École Saint Dominic School

Welcome to École St. Dominic Elementary School.

Saint Dominic School offers programs in English and French Immersion to students in Kindergarten to Grade Six.

Saint Dominic School is a community that welcomes all and provides an education that is grounded in our Christian Faith. We believe that we are to live as Jesus taught us. We treat others as we want to be treated.

Saint Dominic School offers a strong Moral Intelligence program that is based on the virtues we live by and teaches a new skill monthly that is based on that virtue. Empathy was one virtue that was a focus in September. We focused on identifying the feelings of others. We looked at how our behaviour impacts others and we talked about "expected behaviour"(things others would see regularly) and "unexpected behaviour"(things others would see as uncommon or odd).

Our school mascot is Dominic Dolphin. He is the leader of our Ocean Families. Every student is a part of an Ocean Family. These families are cross graded and come together three times per month to talk about and reinforce the virtue and skill for the month. Ocean Families sit together for assemblies, do an MIP activity once a month and have lunch together once a month.

Saint Dominic is blessed to have the services of our Family Outreach Worker, Robin Hartzell part time. Robin Hartzell works with students dealing with a variety of issues. She addresses loss, grief, divorce, social skills, managing our feelings as well as a host of other issues.
