Congratulations to Colette in grade 4 for being an incredible kid! She was the winnner for NDE's Incredible Contest and has gone on to be the grand prize winner for the entire Lakeland Area. Colette was interviewed on the morning show and received the grand prize of a DSI!

Grateful grade 3 students thanking Crystal after the yummy Shrove Tuesday pancakes!
The staff at Notre Dame Elementary would like
to nominate Crystal Dechaine for the "Lakeland's Most Amazing
Person". Crystal has been giving selflessly of herself for many years in
our school environment. She is our Parent Partnership Association (PPA) chair.
With this title, she attends and runs one meeting monthly. Crystal also
coordinates our hot lunch program as well as many fundraising activities. We
received a new playground at our school last September due to her hard work and
diligence obtaining a grant as well as community donations. Crystal and her
family were there helping build the playground, guarding it while the cement
set, and then spread the sand. Crystal helps monthly in her child's
Kindergarten class where she helps the students perform tasks asked of them as
well as help with prep work. When someone is needed for help in either of her
children's classes, she never hesitates to come in. Crystal also promotes and
helps the school recycling program. Out of school, Crystal is the manager of her
daughter's hockey team where she organizes all of the games and trips. She also
organizes activities that help the players get to know each other on a personal
basis. While doing this, she makes sure that all of the families are informed
and get included. At the church level, Crystal teaches Sunday school. We, at
Notre Dame Elementary, sincerely hope you consider this giving, generous,
friendly, outgoing person for "Lakeland's Most Amazing Person"!

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THIS WEEK
School Lenten Social Justice Project - Caring for Camp St. Louis.
Students are invited to earn extra money at home and donate it to this project. If the students raise $2000.00 by the end of March, staff will put on a talent show after Easter.
Alberta Opera had an urgent situation and had to reschedule. The rescheduled date is April 11th. Sorry for an inconvenience to parents that arrived to attend the performance.
I had a visit from the RCMP to inform me that our school is going to be targeted for parking infractions starting immediately. Please make sure that you are in a proper parking area (do not park across the street if you are going to be here for a long time as it is only a two hour zone). If you park in the handicap area, expect to be towed. The best place to park is in the staff parking lot or behind the pool. If you are not parking in these designated areas, double check the signage of where you are parking to ensure that it is not in a place where you will get a ticket. Please pass this along to other parents. Any car stopping in the bus zone in the morning or after school to drop off or pick up during the times posted will also be ticketed. Please drop off students across the street and have them use the crosswalk. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, the safety of your children is a priority.
