Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!!
A few words to get started...
I believe that the classroom needs to be a safe place, where all students feel comfortable to learn and discover at their own pace. At Holy Cross School, we take pride in our extensive Moral Intelligence program, one that combines Scripture and skills to promote a safe and caring learning environment. I have been trained in the Tribes Learning Communities program, which is fundamental to the Holy Cross School Experience. Tribes is based on 4 principles: Attentive Listening, The Right To Pass, Appreciations-No Put Downs and Mutual Respect as the underlying rules to guide classroom learning and interactions. The mission of Tribes is to assure the healthy and whole development of every child so that each has the knowledge, skills, and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world. Tribes uses cooperation, communication and community circles to promote an environment of inclusion in the classroom—that, and it makes learning a whole lot of fun!
Your child’s happiness and success is my number one priority. I feel that by having open communication between home and school is one way in which I can provide the best learning experiences possible. It is important that educating a child be a team effort, one in which communication lines are always open, working together in the best interest of the child. I will regularly update this Wiki regarding curriculum and events to keep you up to date with the learning that your child is doing in the classroom. I welcome any questions or concerns that you may have.
This school year will be a great one, and I look forward to getting to know your child better. I look forward to working with in cooperation with you to provide the best education and school experiences possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the school (594-0700), via email (caxani@lcsd150.ab.ca) or by sending a note in your child’s agenda if you have any questions regarding your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Chantel Axani caxani@lcsd150.ab.ca
