HCE - Mrs. Johnson's Class
January is going to be a busy month! The students are learning all about the application called Pages - it is a word processing application, that allows you to make newsletters, pamphlets, letterheads, etc., all from a template that is pre-made! Madame Odette came into our class today to teach everyone (including myself) about Pages. The students made a newsletter template all about cats. They first decided on some important things they know about cats, and then went onto Google Images to get some pictures of cats. They then added the pictures into their newsletter, along with the information that was discussed. All of the students enjoyed learning about Pages today, and are anxious to hear about what comes next!
The next step for this month will be to conduct a research project on an animal. We will go to the library, where the students will be able to look at books to get information, and they will be able to find information as a class with Mrs. Belsher on the Smartboard. In the end, they will need to find out the size of their animal, so that we can do some paper mache art in the classroom; how their animal stays warm in cold weather, or cool in hot weather; and other interesting facts about their animal. They will find pictures and put their information into a Pages document to show what they have learned. The criteria for this project will be:
1. Create a title and a catchy headline for your poster.
2. Find 5 pictures of your animal on Google Images or on ORC.
3. Find out the size of your animal, and include it in your information.
4. Find out how your animal stays warm or cool in the temperatures it lives in, and include it in your information.
5. Find out at least 5 more interesting facts about your animal (Where does it live? What does it eat? Does it have any enemies?) to write sentences into your poster.
This will be a very exciting project, with lots of learning. Watch for the finished product!!

I learned that if you click three times on some words it will disseppeer. I like that if you drage a pitcher on top of another pitcher the other pitcher will disseppeer. On pages we did a poster that tells you would we reserched. If I could do this agen I would want to do a poster with more then one page.

I learned that you can go o google and get pichurs.I liked that you put infermaition on pages. I put infermaion on the Hyena it was fun. I would liked to do another poster.

I learned that on Pages if you want to delete something and write wear it was. You have to click twice on it then write. The thing that I liked on Pages is that you can put pictures on it. On Pages I transfered information that I did on Microsoft Word to Pages. I would like to put information on Pages again this year.

I learned that we can make poster's with infomashon on it.I l liked it when I got to drag pitchers on the compoter.I got to rite lot's of infomashon on are poster.I would like to go on GOGLE and find pitchers.

What I did in pages is I found out is I found a magic marker and when I color it disapears.What I want to do again is I want to make lots of reserch.and I learned you can pick your page.we all did reserch uv ower faverite animal.

Grade 2's.
I am so very proud of you and of your work on using Pages. I have shared what you have done with other teachers in the district and they do not, for one minute, believe that is it possible to do that high level quality work in grade 2. I told them I was there when you learn how to do this, how well you were listening to instructions and you how well you were following instructions at that time. No wonder you did so well on the final project!!! You are great!!!
