New Instructional Coach/Curriculum Coordinator Annoucement

LAKELAND CATHOLIC SCHOOLS is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Dargis to the Instructional Coach/Curriculum Coordinator position.

Michelle attended the University of Alberta where she received a combined B.ED and Early Childhood Diploma. Michelle’s love for teaching young children kept her in the kindergarten setting until December of 2001 at which time she joined the Lakeland Catholic family.

Michelle accepted a new challenge of Classroom Support Teacher at Ecole Dr. Bernard Brosseau. Serving “at risk” students and taking on the odd teaching assignment, Michelle honed her skills in the field of Special Education, Gifted Education, Differentiated Instruction and Assessment for Learning. She also developed a strong appreciation for teaching in students in the middle years.

Michelle was accepted into the two-year Leadership Academy Program. She developed a district-wide professional development program for student assistants that provided them with methods to differentiate instruction for their students.

Missing an elementary school setting, Michelle transferred to Notre Dame Elementary two years ago. In addition to working as a CST at the school, she was seconded to work in the area of Assistive Technology at the District level. She was also highly involved with the new preschool program at Notre Dame Elementary this year.

Michelle is looking forward to serving the students and staff of Lakeland Catholic Schools in her new role as Instructional Coach/Curriculum Coordinator where she will lead both the Assistive Technology and Early Learning Initiatives.

Congratulations Michelle on your new role as Instructional Coach/Curriculum Coordinator. We look forward to the support you will provide to all teachers in our District.

Assumption Jr/Sr High Principal

Michele Revoy Accepts Principalship Assumption Jr/Sr High School

Michele joined Lakeland Catholic in August 2000 and has held the position of Principal of Ecole Notre Dame High since August 2001. She is a strong Catholic educator who lives and models her Faith, leads and supports collaborative planning, professional learning communities and staff retreats.

Michele has built her knowledge of good teaching practices through extensive involvement in local, provincial and international professional development. She participated in the “MindsOn“ Project which has brought the district to its present 21st Century Learning culture.

Michele is a certified Stephen Covey, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" facilitator. This has led to the development of another locally developed course at Ecole Notre Dame High for students that shares the habits and tools, which can lead to more effective personal traits and interpersonal relationships.

Michele has also participated in the “Reclaiming Children and Youth” workshop which is designed to discuss ways of building resiliency in young people. This workshop became the foundation of the locally developed course entitled MindPower which is intentional on assisting students to acquire the mental attitude and work ethic that will permit them to overcome obstacles and be successful in all aspects of life.

Michele's philosophy is that all students will be served with equal intensity. She sets high standards, is truly an exemplary model of leadership. Michele is excited about continuing with Lakeland Catholic Schools at Assumption Jr/Sr High School.

Notre Dame High Principal

Jason Bayer Accepts Principalship Notre Dame High School

Jason Bayer was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He attended the University of Lethbridge receiving a combined BSC/BED degree in June of 1998. In August ␣98 Jason along with his wife Natalie moved to Cold Lake, and he joined Lakeland Catholic as a teacher at Assumption Jr/Sr High School. Jason taught math and science for 10 years at Assumption before accepting a position as the Vice Principal of Ecole Notre Dame High School in Bonnyville in 2008.

Currently the Bayer family is a family of four. Jason who likes to think he is the head of the household has been married to Natalie for 14 years. They have two very active boys Timothy who is 8 and attends Holy Cross School in grade 3 and Alexander who is 2 and really likes to grab all the attention.

Jason looks forward to this new challenge, knowing that a leader is someone that helps to set the path to follow but delights in seeing others step out in front.

One of his favorite quotes is: “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” By Ralph Waldo Emerson.

May the journey Notre Dame High takes be one of trailblazing a path for students, parents and teachers that will lead to success and satisfaction for all.

Congratulations Jason!
