This Month’s Moral Intelligence Project
We are very excited this month to be learning all about social justice. We will come to understand what it means and what we can do to act in socially just ways.
After an introductory presentation on Social Justice, our students were amazed to learn that they already participate in socially just activities and events. We participate in activities to help others, we learn about other people and places so that we can understand and accept them for who they are. Above all we put our Faith into Action every time We Treat Others as We Would Like to be Treated!
As we learn about Social Justice this month we will be focusing our efforts on the Bissel Center in Edmonton.
The Bissel center is a homeless shelter/soup kitchen, which assists over 600 people per day.
We will be collecting coffee (one of their biggest wish-list items) to donate to the center. Each student is asked to donate as much coffee as he or she is able until the end of March.
Families are welcome to donate to this cause however students should be encouraged to look outside of the home for additional support, going to neighbors and friends. We want our students to understand how they can truly give themselves to a just cause and understand that their sacrifice is small in comparison to the sacrifices of others (this is a tie-in to the spirit of Lenten Sacrifice).
All donations may be dropped off in the lobby of the school every day until the end of March. Thank you for your assistance in this Moral Intelligence Project and in making sacrifices to help those less fortunate.
Thank You for your support!
