Looking for a great read? Check out the books nominated for awards this year:
Rocky Mountain Book Awards: The Rocky Mountain Book Award invites students and educators to participate in our readers' choice program. This program is designed to stimulate the reading interests of students in grades 4 - 7. The Rocky Mountain Book Award is an Alberta based program designed to connect young readers with exemplary Canadian literature.
Young Reader's Choice Awards: The Pacific Northwest Library Association's Young Reader's Choice Award is the oldest children's choice award in the U.S. and Canada. Each year Holy Cross Elementary staff present the current YRCA nominees to grades 3-4 students in a fun booktalk event. They even dress up as characters. This is an annual literacy event that EVERYONE gets excited about. STUDENTS: look for these titles in the YRCA display shelf...

Graphic Novels: Our library has a small (but growing) selection of Middle Grade appropriate graphic novels. They are on the "spinning" display shelf near the main library entrance.

Here are some of the graphic novels we have:
Bone: Scholastic's graphic novel series by creator, Jeff Smith, has plenty of action and has sparked a love of reading in many children.
The Baby-sitter's Club: Another Scholastic graphic novel series, this one is based on the original print books by Ann M. Martin.
