HCE - Family Outreach Worker

DEPLOYMENT AND SEPARATION SUPPORT GROUP: This group is facilitated by Nicole Parker from the Deployment Support Centre at 4 Wing. These students will meet bi-weekly to address issues that arise from having a parent away for extended periods of time for work.

SOCIAL DETECTIVES: This group meets weekly to look for "clues" that help us be more aware of our social interactions and the impact we have on others.

SECOND STEP: This program is presented twice a week by Mrs. Hartzell as well as the Kindergarten teacher. Skills are built in the areas of empathy, anger management and problem solving.

ATTENDANCE MONITORING: Our school monitors attendance on a monthly basis. Students are flagged if they register more than 10% in either "lates" or absences (adult approved or truant)

SPIRIT'S CHOICES: this problem solving strategy is a great tool to help children be assertive in addressing big and small problems in their life.
