- Students marked and discussed the 5 questions from last class together.

February 6, 2012:
- Read Characteristics of Ideology as a class and discussed.
- 4 corners classroom exercise - reviewing the philosophers (H0bbes, Locke and Rousseau)
- Classifying political, economic and social structure into collectivism and individualism and using concrete examples.
- Student's started on the questions for the reading.
this will be due on (Thursday) February, 9, 2012
February 8 and 9:
- students will watch the Michael Moore movie "Sicko"
- The film compare the American Healthcare system (individualism) to the healthcare systems of Britain, Canada and Cuba (collective).
February 10, 2012:
- Students will read the first section of Chapter 2 - Individualism and Liberalism
- Students will use the note taking graphic organizer to copy important information.
- Students will start questions on DOC087.pdf
February 13, 2012:
- As a class - read, highlight and discuss "How individualism is expressed politically."
- Students will work and finish questions on DOC 087. (Due Tuesday, February 21)

- Students will mark as a class chapter 3 questions.

Students wrote a Unit Exam: Marks are posted on Gradebook.
March 7, 2012
- Review John Stuart Mill (political) and Adam Smith (economic) ideas. The objective is that the student understand how these ideas impacted society in the 19th century.
- As a class the students will do a flow chart on how liberalism impacted society during the Industrial Revolution.
- As a class the students will make a t-chart compare two different perspectives of the industrialists, and the lifestyles of the upper/middle classes to the lower class.
- STudents will work on chapter questions.
March 12, 2012
- Reviewed the different perspectives of business owners (Robber Barrons or Captains of Industry) during the late 19th century
- Think- Pair - Share: student listed 3 positives about Classical Liberalism and 5 negatives about Classical Liberalism.
- Student completed questions 1-19 in their Chapter 5 questions.
March 16
- Students wrote the a paragraph on source one focusing on the essay question "What is the role of the individual in society".
- Watched the first part of Iron Jawed Angel (about the suffrage movement in the USA)
March 19, 2012
- As a class read and discussed how Labour Unions were a consequence of Classical Liberalism.
- Learn how to read a spectrum graph
- Students finished Chapter 5 questions. Due at the beginning of class March 20.
March 21, 2012
- Chapter 5 review due the next class (March 22)
- Teacher introduced Socialism and Marxism to class.
March 22, 2012
- Watch a documentary film on the rise of socialism (Owen and Marx)
- Student will start working on a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting Classical Liberalism, Democratic Socialism and Marxism.
March 26, 2012:
- As a class, we went through the writing examplars for Source 1.
- Went through the attached notebook presentation and completed the web assignment. The web assignment is due the next class.
April 10-13, 2012
April 16 & 20, 2012:
