Graduation Information:

Graduation/Grade 12 Farewell Celebration Requirements:
Students that participate in the Graduation Ceremony at Assumption School are not designated as graduates until the Province of Alberta confirms this my mailing a diploma to the student. Diplomas are not mailed out until the end of September after their grade 12 year. Assumption School holds a symbolic mass, ceremony and dance to celebrate the achievement of attending school for twelve years. The requirements to take part in this celebration include:
A. The student must be registered in grade 12, attend school on a regular basis and be registered in enough credits to obtain a high school diploma by the end of the school year.
B. The student must complete or be passing the Religion 35 course by May 1st. Students whose schedules will not allow them to take Religion 35 must complete an independent Study Course in the first semester.
C. The student must attend the graduation retreat.
D. The student must pay a flat rate fee to cover all costs associated with the celebration.


ALBERTA HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA: GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements indicated in this chart are the minimum requirements for a student to attain an Alberta High School Diploma. The requirements for entry into post-secondary institutions and workplaces may require additional and/or specific courses.

100 CREDITS

including the following:

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS – 30 LEVEL (English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2)

SOCIAL STUDIES – 30 LEVEL (Social Studies 30-1 (30) or 30-2 (33))

MATHEMATICS – 20 LEVEL (Pure Math 20, Applied Math 20 or Math 24)

SCIENCE – 20 LEVEL (Science 20, Science 24, Biology 20, Chemistry 20 or Physics 20)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10 (3 CREDITS)

CAREER AND LIFE MANAGEMENT (3 CREDITS)


10 CREDITS IN ANY COMBINATION FROM:

• Career and Technology Studies (CTS)

• Fine Arts

• Second Languages

• Physical Education 20 and/or 30

• Locally developed/acquired and locally authorized courses in CTS, fine arts, second languages,

Knowledge and Employability or IOP occupational courses

• Knowledge and Employability courses

• Registered Apprenticeship Program courses


10 CREDITS IN ANY 30-LEVEL COURSE (IN ADDITION TO A 30-LEVEL ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND A 30-LEVEL SOCIAL STUDIES COURSE AS SPECIFIED ABOVE)

These courses may include:

• 35-level locally developed/acquired and locally authorized courses

• Advanced level (3000 series) in Career and Technology Studies courses

• 35-level Work Experience courses

• 30-4 level Knowledge and Employability courses

• 35-level Registered Apprenticeship Program courses

• 30-level Green Certificate Specialization courses
